We are now 400 kms into our walk.....really quite cold in the mornings before sunrise and we have used our gloves and warm shirts...but not the long johns yet.....however, it does warm up by about 11am and we start shedding layers......no rain so far......try to finish the day by about 1pm and then like today we shower, wash clothes, have a cerveza, have the menu del dia with vino tinto......and then put our feet up and have a snooze......not a bad life if you don´t count the hour before we arrive....we are always thanking Bonnie our trainer when we are struggling and are thankful for no serious injuries so far.....thanks for all your comments...we appreciate your interest......hope all is well with our family and our friends. We have seen a mongoose, fox, mouse, and for justene and christo...we have seen hoopoes |

good job guys, lookin good!
SA put on a clinical display against Fiji 49-3. Danie Roussow, Schalk, both Steyns could've been man of the match (went to danie) Lambie started at fullback and looked good.
Ireland beat Australia, so looks like we'll have to meet Australia in the quarter final now...
I can't believe Derek isn't doing the laundry! Surely it's a trick photo?
ahhh! now I think we have it re Gayle's toe, Derek was showing a rugby move to a crowd of Pilgrims and pushed off using Gayle's foot as a block....nice!So what did happen?

Wow, you guys are doing great. Thank you for the photos and for keeping us updated. We wish we were with you. It looks like an amazing adventure - and a nice departure from the every day routine that we are in these days. Keep on trucking' and we hope the weather keeps holding for you! (Liz and Doug)
Wow, we are envious of your adventure but not the toe job. How are the feet holding out? Seems like the your spirit is holding up or is it the spirits are holding you up. It seems that the food must be better in the fall than the early spring when other friends did the journey. They found the diet very limiting and not much choice. Good luck on the rest of the journey. Betty & Alan from Edmonton
Hi Derek,
We all quite enjoy reading your blog each day! Keep it up, Joan wants to say she's following you on a map at home and she always thought she'd like to do the trail, however, now having seen you both endure she's decided to take bus!! :)
We'll comment again soon!
Joan, Cherilyn and Toni
